The bean from this tree comes from the forests of Brazil and British Guiana. There it is called “Rumara”.
It is used in perfumery as a fixative. The “coumarin” component in this bean, is also used to flavour castor-oil.
The fatty substance of the beans is for sale in the Netherlands as “Tonquin Butter”.
